A few months ago I entered the Folio society competition to design a bookcover and three page illustrations for the book ‘A brave new world’ by Aldous Huxley, my entries were sadly not successful but I think they are nice images regardless. Instead of hiding them away I thought i’d post them up to show how my work is developing.

Work in progress shot, started cutting my first lino for my mask project.

Work in progress shot, started cutting my first lino for my mask project.

Moving and Changing jobs has brought my creative output right down to a dribble recently but I have entered the Folio Society Competition.
I’ve started a new set of lino prints focusing on masks created using contour line drawing techniques. I have previously produced a mask print for a project looking at Margot from the Royal Tenenbaums and loved doing it so I think pushing that could be interesting!

Final imagery for my ‘Major towns of Roman Britain’ project I set myself. I’m pretty happy with this and I think it has a Roman art feel to it while still being informative.

Here’s a peek at the typography for my map of ‘The Major towns of Roman Britain’, I plan to composite it together in Photoshop. Map prints to follow soon and a compass!

Lino cutting letters is hard! Though I may have made them too small but I guess any imperfections will had to the printed charm I’m going for. Typography for a map displaying the major towns/cities of Roman Britain.

Will the letters not print backwards though?

Yes but I plan to break the words up and flip them on photoshop to arrange them into my composition. Thought i’d make my life easier as that was my plan. Good spot though :)
